Some battles are won and lost on the battle ground – others take shape on the digital space – with an eye for detail as shields and creative prowess as weapons.
While brands jostle for huge market share and large customer-base, it’s on days such as this that they lay down their status and fight like men on the digital landscape.
It’s that time of the year again when Nigerian brands do battle in no man’s land, where each brand would have to show the stuff they’re made of outside their brands offering.
Today might have been set aside for rest – but not for Nigerian creatives – who once again must make their respective brands proud with great designs and sleek copies.
The end result? To convert new faithfuls, and earn or retain bragging rights.
What follows next are undiluted creativity from Nigerian brands during this year’s International Workers’ Day. Take a read:
Access Bank
Access Bank created a carousel using some of the work related abbreviation such as KPI, ROI, CEO and MD, and then capped it off by saying “Find more meaning outside work today”
It’s simple but yet effective.
Domino’s Pizza Nigeria
One half laptop, one half pizza. Dominos, found a way to be on-brand whilst delivering the day’s message: “… A break well deserved”
X3M Ideas
You know how you’d create new documents on Photoshop, Microsoft Word or Excel, and choose to “Save, Don’t save or Cancel”?
X3M Ideas sent their Workers’ Day message using different words instead: “E don save. Go rest. You don try”.
Sterling Bank
“Today, switch modes. Activate your master of enjoyment flex…” reads the caption. What more can I say? The caption did justice to the design.
Verve Card
Another carousel post. This is really creative coming from Verve.
They totally switched the everyday lingua used at work into something that loosely translates to “Sit back and enjoy”.
OneBank
How to make a post saying “…we have no post for you”. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world of One Bank – the digital banking app from Sterling Bank.
It’s the simplicity for me.
Cav Digital
For a creative copy that says “everyone is taking a break today. EVERYONE”. Their caption reads: “well, except designers”.
And that’s the issue, today is International Workers’ Day but designers and creatives in general don’t get to take that much deserved break, phew!
GIGM
GIG Mobility (formerly, God is Good Motors) offers transportation services. If you’ve been working or “walking” – as the case may be – you need to take a break!
UBA
“Snooze the alarm, you own the day”. Nah, who sets an alarm on a public holiday? Just who?
The time “4:30” isn’t there for aesthetics, it represents the time range most Lagosians wake up to prepare for work. Some wake up much earlier than this though.
Fidelity
On a day like this, you answer queries in the bedroom and stretch out long standing issues.
Fidelity Bank knows this too well, and they’re saying: “make your home feel like a home again”.
FCMB
The little icons on the socket really stood out for me. Somehow, it blends seamlessly with the copy, and together they both formed a cohesive meaning.
Their eye for detail and the balance they tried to create within the design is top notch!
Conclusion
Although some brands didn’t turn up as expected, however, those who did gave us a mouthful.
